1. What’s Tungsten Alloy PET Syringe Shield?
Tungsten alloy PET syringe shield is localized radiation protection component used during radiopharmaceutical injection in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) examinations, primarily for positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals such as F-18 FDG. Positrons produced during F-18 decay annihilate with electrons to generate 511 keV γ-rays, exposing operators’ hands to radiation during radiopharmaceutical extraction and injection.
